As 2025 begins, I reflect on my opening post from last year, where I outlined Vayah Vikas's mission to be the voice of senior citizens, empowering them to find purpose, a sense of belonging, and enriching lives through collaboration, resources, and advocacy. Our goal has always been to bridge the gap between seniors and the community, supporting their journey toward active and dignified aging.
Reflecting on the past year, I feel a sense of accomplishment as our Vayah Vikas team, supported by our esteemed board led by Kris Gopalakrishnan, has made significant progress in empowering senior citizens through transformative programs and community growth.
At the start of 2024, our membership grew from 45,000 to over 100,000, reflecting nationwide trust in our vision, as we expanded from Bengaluru to Mangaluru, Mysore, Chengalpattu, and Chennai, aiming to reach one million members with insights gained along the way.
Over the year, we celebrated the vibrancy of our senior community with events like the Master Mind Quiz, TCS Silvers' Run , Silver Stars Talent Show , Senior Stroll-a-thon in Chennai, and Hiriyara Habba, attracting over 2,000 seniors.
A key highlight of 2024 was the launch of Ekta Hub on Residency Road, focused on Health and Wellness, Fun Activities, and Learning, which has become a center for senior empowerment, hosting various workshops and events, inspiring plans for additional centers in Bengaluru and beyond.
Our key partnerships and collaborations with AHPI, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dementia India Alliance, Arogya City initiative, Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, Longevity Circle as well as academic institutions like New Horizon College, Christ University, SJIM, JAGSOM, etc have built a strong framework for our growth plans.
Our progress, supported by over 100,000 members, a dedicated team, a visionary board, and trusted partners, has transformed challenges into opportunities, and as we enter 2025, we remain committed to our motto, "Never Stop Growing," with plans for deeper community engagement, leadership in senior care, and stronger partnerships to ensure every senior lives with dignity, joy, and fulfillment.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this journey and wish you and your families a happy New Year.
Warm regards,
Dr. (HC) Jamuna Ravi
