Many of us face the challenge of taking care of our elders who need help in performing their basic daily routine. In other words, they need assistance to move at home. They may need help in getting up and sitting down while there may be instances where they are wheel chair bound and therefore need assistance to shift from the wheel chair to the bed or sofa and back. In many cases, their body weight and motor skills play a major role in determining the level of assistance needed and hence there is no one size fits all approach here. In addition to the physical assistance, a bigger issue may be their willingness to seek help or accept when offered. It is a mental block as well as physical limitation for a senior citizen as taking help from others undermines his or her self esteem and dents self confidence.
